Study
Supporting early-career scholars is an essential part of the work of the German-Ukrainian Historical Commission. For this reason, the DUHK currently awards one-month research fellowships annually, funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
The call for applications is open to historians with a completed university degree who are working on a dissertation or a postdoctoral project on German, Ukrainian, or German-Ukrainian history.
The research grants are intended to facilitate visits to archives, specialized libraries, research institutions, and project-related conferences in Germany or Ukraine.
From 2016 to 2021, the German-Ukrainian Commission of Historians supported a total of 38 early-career researchers from both countries. The program will continue.
In 2022, no scholarships could be offered due to the war in Ukraine; instead, a relief fund was established for Ukrainian historians who have fled the country.
