The Commission is organized on a parity basis and comprises seven representatives each from Germany and Ukraine.
Each of the two national sections is led by a spokesperson. During the 2015–2022 term, these roles were held by Prof. Dr. Martin Schulze Wessel and Prof. Dr. Yaroslav Hrytsak.
Since the 2022 annual conference, the sections have been led by Prof. Dr. Guido Hausmann and Prof. Dr. Gelinada Grinchenko.
