Appeal of the German-Ukrainian Historical Commission on the Occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the End of the Second World War

Publication of Two Conference Volumes by the Commission
In December 2024, Leipziger Universitätsverlag published two conference volumes of the Commission: the volume from the 2015 annual conference, “Revolution and War. Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, which began in 2014 and escalated one year ago, has violated Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inflicted immense suffering on its population. Dissertation by Former DUHK Fellow Martin Rohde Now Available in Open Access 29 November 2022
In 2021, Martin Rohde’s dissertation, “National Scholarship Between Two Empires: The Shevchenko Scientific Society, 1892–1918,” was published. The publisher has now made the book available in open access. It can be accessed here.
Statement: Solidarity with Franziska Davies
The members of the German-Ukrainian Historians’ Commission express their full solidarity with Franziska Davies in her efforts to counter disinformation in the context of Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine. We strongly oppose any attempts to restrict her participation in the current public debate.
New Commission Co-Chairs Elected
At the conference held in 2022, the positions of the two co-chairs were newly filled by the respective sections for a term of three years. Prof. Dr. Guido Hausmann (University of Regensburg / IOS Regensburg) and Prof. Dr. Gelinada Grinchenko (V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University / University of Wuppertal) were elected. We wish them every success in their roles.
