Two Years of War Against Ukraine

We mourn with the families of the victims of Russia’s brutal war against Ukraine and express our deepest condolences. We strongly condemn all war crimes and human rights violations committed in the course of Russia’s war of aggression, both in the past and ongoing. As members of the German-Ukrainian Historical Commission, we stand in solidarity with Ukraine in its struggle for freedom and political self-determination. The Commission will continue to promote a better understanding of Ukraine’s history and present in Germany through public initiatives and events, and to counter Russian propaganda.

We call on the German Federal Government, in the strongest terms, to provide sustained political and military support to Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression, enabling it to repel the aggressor and restore its territorial integrity. Only in this way can the further escalation of the war to other parts of Europe be prevented in the long term.
